Content Validity Index of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Test Items in Basic Science and Technology (BST)

This study quantitatively provided evidence of content validity BECE items in BST by estimating index (CVI). Descriptive survey research designs were employed. Purposive and accidental sampling techniques adopted selecting 31 teachers Abia State junior secondary schools. Three questions addressed. The instrument for data collection was 2021 comprising four subtests with 30 each. Item level CVIs, test CVI modified kappa statistic computed. Findings revealed that 95% the reported I-CVIs ranging from 0.70 – 1.00 accepted as having adequate whereas remaining 5% items, PHE one Computer Studies had low I-CVIs. T-CVI yielded a high 0.95. Finally, adjusting chance agreement indicated 0.763 which proved excellent among experts.
